Online gallery Contemporary Art : painting drawing stay in Clisson 2
To draw on the water.
As I wrote to you in my previous article, our stay in the small hamlet of La Noé in Saint-Lumine-de-Clisson was an opportunity to test new practices such as being on an inflatable mattress (no boat was available), to stand in the middle of a large pond and to draw the banks from this point of view always in movement.
Drawing on the water requires an impulsive side from the designer. The sketch is an obvious choice: it will be necessary to go to the essential of the representation of the banks with regard to the fact that the wind, the aquatic current deport the raft. Everything moves, not only the sunlight, the slightest movement of the draftsman (like leaning) prints a movement to the inflatable mattress that reacts immediately and moves on the water. The exercise then requires less to represent what one sees (no photographic representation) than to represent what one feels about the observed thing. Rowing to keep a point of view does not help much.
It is the orientation of the pneumatic structure and its complicity with this liquid place that will determine the snapshot that the designer enjoys. The prospects are deeply disrupted.
Mit freundlichen Grüßen (Bis bald Tschüss….!) / Best regards / Cordialement / С наилучшими пожеланиями….
